Pete Davidson, Snoop Dogg, and Shane Gillis Make Cameos in Eminem's 'Houdini' Music Video

Pete Davidson, Snoop Dogg, and Shane Gillis Make Cameos in Eminem's 'Houdini' Music Video

Slim Shady is back, back again — and Pete Davidson is his taxi driver.

Guess who’s back?

Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, has just dropped the music video for "Houdini," the first single from his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de GrĂ¢ce). The star-studded video features cameos from Snoop Dogg, Pete Davidson, and Saturday Night Live's Shane Gillis.

"Houdini" samples the Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit “Abracadabra” and nostalgically opens with the iconic lyrics from Eminem's 2002 hit "Without Me": “Guess who’s back, back again/Shady’s back, tell a friend.” The video shows a bleach-blond 2002 Slim Shady stepping through a portal into 2024, bewildered by modern tech like selfie sticks and VR headsets.

This is Eminem’s first release since 2020's Music to Be Murdered By. In the video, Dr. Dre, who signed Eminem in 1998 and appeared in the original "Without Me" video, calls him up and says, "We've got a problem, check this out. Get your ass down here."

Comic book panels in the video showcase familiar faces like 50 Cent and The Voice coach Snoop Dogg singing the chorus, "Guess who’s back?" Eminem knows it's time for his superhero alter-ego, Rapboy, to step in. Donning spandex, he teams up with Dr. Dre, cruising around the city looking for Slim Shady, who disrupts a podcast recording with Shane Gillis, expressing his frustration with the modern world.

The climax features a rooftop showdown between Rapboy and 2002 Slim Shady. After trading blows, they merge into a "unholy hybrid," resulting in the present-day Eminem emerging with bleach blond hair. The video ends with the dye job spreading to other city residents.

Eminem and Pete Davidson reunite in the "Houdini" music video. Eminem re-joins Dre in their car, but after rapping insults, Dre exits, leaving Eminem without a driver until Pete Davidson hops in, now sporting blond hair like Slim Shady clones.

"Trust me, I'm a great driver. Don't worry, I just got my license back," Davidson says. The video concludes with them careening down dark city streets, a nod to Davidson possibly getting revenge after Eminem crashed his final Saturday Night Live episode, begging him to "please stop" doing Eminem parodies.
